R60 upgrading std Speedo radio to Navi
upgrading std Speedo radio to Navi
Has anyone attempted to upgrade a std Speedo Radio center unit to a OEM Navi Mini Connected unit? Can it even be done? or is an aftermarket unit a better choice? looking for options on if it's even possible - thanks all!
here on NAM, each generation 1, 2, 3 has a separate Navigation & Audio Forum. You'll have better luck searching in the appropriate forum for an answer to your question. Since you posted in the R60 :: Countryman Talk (2010-2015), I'm assuming that's the car you have. It's always a good Idea to post your vehicle specific year and model info in your question. Even better, put that info in your signature. then it will be there every time you post and no one will have to ask.
For what it's worth: When my factory radio was replaced under warranty for a faulty button, I asked the dealership about upgrading to the NAV since they had to put in a new head unit anyway. I offered to pay the difference. They wouldn't even give me a price, they just said NO, can't be done.
The radio in these cars is heavily tied into the computer. So that's the tricky part. Some folks on the Nav & Audio forums have put in some aftermarket head units with varying degrees of successful integration. These aftermarket units are typically AliExpress type stuff with questionable quality and customer service. Buyer beware.
If you search Crutchfield.com, a source most people trust for aftermarket car audio, and put your car info in, you're likely to find that there are no units that will fit your car.
good luck.
