Unhappy Brake light electric problem...not the bulb or board

Hey guys. Odd problem needing a fix. My left brake light has gone bad, all the other lights work fine. Originally replaced the bulb (which was burnt) but it didn't fix the problem. So I took the light board from the left tail light, connected it to the electrical on the right and had the same problem (no brake light). The left board, when connected to the right side worked fine.

So...It's not the bulbs, and it's not the boards. The problem must lie somewhere in the wiring. Any ideas on how to check that? Where to check? and what to replace? Also..I did notice some sort of clicking sound under the center console when I press the break pedal. Any chance there is a switch or relay down there?

Thanks for helping a newb.

I know this is old, did you fix it? Was it the FRM?
