R60 Torque arm insert is a must do.
Torque arm insert is a must do.
I just wanted to say a thanks to MarioKart for supplying and giving moral support during the install. Having driven everything for old 60's muscle cars to my previous Subaru STi, I wasn't too thrilled with the clutch on my JCW. It was incredibly unpredictable, especially on inclines. It now has the proper clutch response that I expect. Even the hill assist feature is working properly. As far as vibration is concerned, it makes the car feel like a car again. Way to much disconnect with the mushy mounts on this car.
Though I didn't do a nice tutorial for y'all, I do have a few pointers. As suggested by MarioKart, disconnecting the exhaust and bracket will allow the engine to move easier. If you are doing a one man install, reverse a carpenter's clamp so that it spreads and use it to push the engine forward by inserting it between the tranny and one of the frame cross-members. Finally, apply a thin coating of lubrication ( I used some moly) on the urethane insert and position the arm straight in from under it's engine mount. A little tap and it popped right in.
