Front bumper alignment / adjustment

Hi All,

My third mini but first post!

We have got a Countryman Copper D All4, bloody love it.

I’ll hold my hands up and say I’m pretty **** when it comes to things and there is something bugging me with it.

I have attached pictures, essentially the gap between bonnet and bumper isn’t even, on the driver side it is 5mm different to the passenger. (7mm vs 12mm) It seems to be so far out that the plastic trim has popped out of its clips.

Is it possible to adjust this – does the bumper sit on adjustable screws and if so where are they located, I’m guessing I’ll have to jack it up and remove the front wheels to access them from the wheel arches?

Any help really appreciated.

Cheers
Andy

Open the bonnet. There will be two rubber stoppers on each side near the headlight holes. These stoppers can be turned in or out by hand to adjust how the bonnet sits.

Do you meant the gap between the bonnet and the trim, the bonnet and the bumper, or the bumper and trim. Your post and your pics seem to disagree with each other.

1. If you mean bonnet/trim or bonnet/bumper, use the adjusting stops for the bonnet, as mentioned above.

2. If you mean bumper/trim, there isn't a real way to adjust that. However, there are two bolts behind the wheel arch trim, and two behind the grill. You may be able to loosen those and get a 1 or 2mm out of it. The two bolts behind the wheel arch trim are a bit of chore to get to. The grill comes off pretty easily with the four bolts on the top (over the radiator support) and some firm but gentle persuasion to undo the clips on either lower corner.

In the third picture shows the main issue.

The bumper is lower on that side (not the bonnet higher) It seems to be pulling the black arch trim out, leading to it unclip.

I am wondering if it is possible to raise this part of the bumper by a few mm which should rectify the problem.

Option 2 will be your best bet, then. No other way adjust the bumper.
