Liftgate latch

Hello all,

I am new to this forum as I just bought a 2013 CM S ALL4. I love the car but I just noticed when I open the rear hatch, the left liftgate latch has something on it that looks like a ribbon or ground for the radio. I did not take a picture of it.(Sorry) Anyway I noticed that it is almost torn all the way. Does anyone know what this is for? And can it be fixed or replaced? Thank you.

liftgate latch

Thanks for the help Minnie the Moocher but I would like to know if this is a must have repair or if it can be ignored. The part only costs about 50 bucks but it has to be painted and to remove the latch from what I've read is a real pain in the....LOL. I would like to know what that ribbon is for. If it is for radio reception, then it may be something I would like to replace. It is riveted onto the latch itself. Thx.

Are you are still under warranty, why not let a dealer take care of whatever it is? Maybe grounding strap.
