Is it common to have a loud idle? Mechanic says it is cool. But do your R60's idle loudly?

 

Maybe your ears are a bit sensitive... but mine idles just fine.

 

Owner of 2015 all4 here, mine is very noisy as well. Sounds like a loud ticking noise. Definitely a noisy lil car, but it's normal.

 

Yes that loud ticking. That is what I am referring to. So that is completely normal?

 

Direct injection....
The fuel injectors a screwed into the top of the cylinders, like a sparkplug...operates at VERY high pressures...so it can make a bit of a tick like a diesel... Most di motors do this...
Port injection.... The older type, injected the fuel into the intake track before the valves....

 

I love this forum. Great info. I bought my 2013 mini countryman's just a month ago and I love it. But the ticking had me concerned.
