R60 '11 Countryman All4 S wheel squeak
'11 Countryman All4 S wheel squeak
Hi All,
I have an '11 Countryman All4 S with a manual transmission and just over 52k miles. It has recently developed an intermittent squeak from one of the rear wheels. It can occur at any any speed, but not constantly. If I tap the brakes, pull up on the e-brake slightly, or just turn the wheel a little bit the noise goes away.
I've searched the forum and have narrowed it down to either the brakes or a wheel bearing, but I'm hoping someone can identify the problem based on the notes below.
I just took both wheels off and here's what I saw-
-the brake pads all look okay, at least 3/16"-1/4" left; the wear sensor looked okay, not touching anything and the brake light is not on.
-the passenger side wheel is a little bit harder to rotate than the driver's side. Neither have play side-to-side or up/down.
-I did notice there is some grease/oil flung around the backside of the passenger side hub (see pics below, one of each side).
Thanks in advance for any feedback

From the picture alone, it looks like lubricant is leaking from the rear/inner seal of that passenger side hub. CV grease would tend to be flung outward and be covering the boot where the leak is. Your picture seems to show hub centered leak instead.
