I read a previous thread regarding the CM moonroof and tinting but was confused by the end about what the CM moonroof has from factory.

This will be our 3rd mini previous were R56's both with moonroof and both tinted with Huper Optick INCLUDING the moonroof ... had same intent for the new CM to be delivered 3/30/2013.

The tinting guy I have used before AGAIN cautioned me about tinting the moonroof saying that usually isn't recommended due to possible overheating and shattering ...

I read in the other thread that the CM's have "improved tinting" on the moonroof ... is that true?

So ... can anyone clarify? Does the new CM actually have a tinted moonroof and if so ... is it adequate? Anyone else cautioned about tinting the moonroof?

Yes the sunroof does come tinted from the factory. It isn't very dark and that is why some people have tinted them or used "zipee shades". I had mine tinted with 5% and it also has a sunroof graphic on the outside. Keeps it cool and plenty dark.

i put 40% on mine last august and haven't had any issues.

 

I tinted the sunroof on my 2009 R56S...it needed it, IMO.
My 2012 R60S has much darker sunroof panels (to my eyes) and I did not tint them when I did the windows.
I live in in the suburbs of L.A. where it gets plenty hot in the summertime. The untinted Countryman sunroof has not been a problem.

 

Tinted my sunroof 50% and inside is definitely cooler now.
