The ships move in what are called strings. Number of ships in a string is determined by how many days long the string is. They try to maintain the same weekly port of call on each string each week. So you end up with from 5 to 7 ships on most strings depending on number of port calls. The last month or so most ships are running ~ 3 days behind on the North Atlantic, it has been rough and they adjust speed and heading to reduce risk to the ship and cargo.
Car carriers also have massive "sail area", that is big flat sides for wind to push on. This means they must adjust heading to off set the drift from the wind. They can be going 19 knots and only be making speed over ground of 8 or 10 in a bad storm.

Yea i have comfort access on my clubbie now and you dont realize the value until you dont have it like when i had a CM-S loaner for the last couple days. i found myself pressing the spot on the handle where the button should be only having to excavate the pockets for the key fob. im sure i'll regret not ordering it.

I hope to sell my Clubman quickstyle as soon as i get a delivery date on the JCW. Yes I will go the craigslist route. Manho1dup, how close to bluebook were you able to get for your '07 MCS?

Great info, MImini. Probably safe to say that the MINI cargo gets to the east coast much faster than us here in southern California. What's your best guess on how much longer it takes MINIs to get to SoCal?

My 07 MCS was valued at $13k in good condition. I sold it for $12k as I wasn't the only owner plus it will need maintenance, such as new brakes soon, wheel bearing & new tires. I am satisfy with the sale and didn't want to prolong the sale as I am leaving out of town for work soon. Crevier offered me $11 with the mods I had on it. I sold the mods separately and made some money from it also.

I had a buyer that looked at my car then decided on a clubbie instead, if you want I can contact them for you.

I was in Seattle when i got my clubman and had to wait for canal transit and stop in SOCAL. It adds about another week to CA. Unless it is hurricane season in the gulf they have pretty clean shot around once they get out of the North Atlantic.

I'm just waiting on mine to be scheduled for Production.

Finally Got our JCW Countryman:)

April 15th, 2013, Just arrived back from Taipei after a hair-raising jouney connecting at Incheon. Departed Incheon, two and a half hours into flight towards LAX electrical fire. Turned around and landed Tokyo Narita. Long story short: After four and one half months waiting and a 44 hour trip from Taipei that should have only been 32 hours I arrived SLC and picked up my new baby I've only driven three miles because I'm so tired from journey will hotel it tonight but loved every meter of the drive
Looking forward to the six hour drive home tomorrow!

4/16 will be 1 week since I picked mine up and already out 700 miles on it, but every mile I drive puts a smile on my face. Trust me, you will have a smile on your face during your 6 hour drive. The JCW CM is by far my most favorite car I've ever owned.

very cool.
manho1dup, why the 9 days from port to dealership?
My MA said about 5 days from port to dealership should be plenty.
was there an unexpected delay?

The car actually made it to the dealer on 4/4, but I didn't pick it up til 4/9 because I was out of town. Crevier picked me up from the airport & went straight to the dealer to sign & drive home.
