Yep, the fact that my GF has a strong preference for a manual shift is one of the major reasons we bought the CM. There's only a handful of competing vehicles that even offer that any more.

The X1 looks good to us because we have a BMW dealer about 30 minutes away instead of almost 4 hours to our MINI dealer!!!

Looks are subjective, I like the Countryman looks, but the SO thinks she'd puke in her mouth to sit in one.

My wife didn't like the Countryman at all until she saw one in person. Drag your GF to the lot to sit in one. Perhaps near evening when she can enjoy the interior lights.

You could make the same argument for the Countryman, it's completely unnecessary and soley built to expand MINI/BMW marketshare. In fact you could pretty much say this about any model of car other than say a basic 4 door saloon.
