you make the playlist on the thumb drive on you computer. i have mine broke down into clasical, pop, rock, driving, trance, ect. then when you plug it into the mini you search the usb and there are your playlists. i love it

In your music player of choice, you should be able to export a playlist in .xml format. I know in iTunes you just right click on the playlist, but I can't speak for other software.

Ive never heard of a playlist file being contained in an .XML file...if the mini can recognize an .Mu3 file (playlist) make a few with winamp or various other Mp3 playing apps and go from there

.xml is the default from iTunes (on my computer, anyway), but you might be right. I've never tested any playlists to see what format works.

I need help with this subject as well. I'm taking a free podcast, .mpeg4(sp?) from iTunes and putting it onto a thumb drive so it reads when I plug it into the USB port in the Mini. My frustration comes with the inability for the USB to read anything, I've tried multiple times, nothing. Do I need to convert the podcast to mp3? If so, how?

What am I missing???? Shouldn't it be able to find the music file and play it?
