1. No cupholders in the back w/bench seat and no large single elevated cup holder option for the front like the one I had in my MCc (I miss my "Slurpee" holder)

2. I don't like programming the remotes seems pointless for just a few options

3. That the japanese catalog has more stuff in it...I'd like to order some of the things I saw in it...especially the rail for a bench seat.

4. 1 button to auto up or down all the windows (my MCc had a button to do the auto down but you'd have to hold it for them all to go up)

5. I don't like the stereo buttons. The 1st and last buttons aren't very responsive and find I have to push them hard. Also at first I'd think I was pushing one number but it was really another. I finally noticed little ridges that that seem to define what's what better but they're hard to see in the daylight.

6. No spare...again, something my much smaller MCc had.

7. I don't like the candy corn gas gauge.

i don't like where the side mirror controls are - i seem to bump my knee into it.

the sport button should be on the shifter (i have an auto). my pathfinder has the o/d button on the shifter and is perfect.

i think the door handles are kinda cheap....usually it's pull on or up on the whole handle to open the doors.

on my particular car which was not custom ordered, it would have been nice if it came with the black headliner since everything else was black....trim, roof, interior, headlights.

i also agree that the side mirrors are too low and are partially blocked.
I'm relatively new to the Countryman, but I notice with the automatic when you nudge the shifter to the left you are in sport mode, no?

- The clutch feel when backing up my steep twisted driveway and parallel parking on steep streets in San Francisco.
- I wish the gas tank took another 2 or 3 gallons. I just grabbed my gas receipts from the center console and I have filled up 7 times in the past 23 days. That seems like a lot especially since all but 2 of those were in 11 to 12.5 gallon range (typically one red corn cob showing and car complaining.)

But in with the automatic, moving the selector left to M/S does activate the sport program. That's what I do...no need for the button if you have an automatic!

i was vaccuming yesterday and found rear seat vents on the floor, tucked under the front seats ... they blow a lot of air if you direct air to the floor ...

on the other hand, i have not had any backseaters complain, even on a 100F day (as if i care what a backseater thinks anyway )

I was under the assumption that that just changed the engine response and shift range. Where as pushing the sport button also tightened the steering and changed the engine sound including the burble from exhaust.

I'll have to try tomorrow.

I can't tell the difference in steering feel when using the sport button. It feels equally tight and responsive either way. Maybe that's why I'm an engineer and not an eye surgeon or safe cracker.

Razz, are you saying the Sport Button on the dash is not reducing the power steering boost on your car? If that's not happening, there's something wrong with your car. The change in the boost should be VERY obvious. But you mentioned in your previous post that moving the shifter to the left activates the Sport Program, and there's no need for the Sport Button with an automatic transmission. That's not correct. Moving the shifter to the left enables you to shift the transmission manually, but does not change the power steering boost. "Sport Program" and "Sport Button" are two different features. Yeah, it's somewhat confusing

i guess i can add this to the things i didn't know about the countryman. my wife is the one that actually drives it so i don't really fidget with it. but thanks for the info. i'll definitely try the sport mode and check out the vents.

My Mini is still pretty new (740mi) so I haven't driven aggressively yet, and not on the twisties, so that could be the reason I didn't notice any change in the steering boost. I'll try again when I'm not on the freeway, and I'll use the button instead of the shifter.

But I do notice that "DS" appears in the tach whether I use the sport button or sport program.

With sport mode this change is very noticeable. Just at about 45mph and then hit sport mode, you'll fill it tighten right up.

I love my CMS but there are some things that I don't like.

First: I don't like the vent positions, what's up with the one on the top of the dash anyways?

Second: I don't like the way the windshield "squirters" are on jet mode. Not good fluid coverage IMO.

Third: AC is sub par.

Fourth: No engine temp gauge. That to me is important to have on a vehicle, especially with turbo.

I'm sure there are other nuances that bother me but I can't think of them right now. I DO however LOVE my CMS!!!

The one on top of the dash keeps the windshield from fogging up when it's humid and defrosts in the winter.

I found a cool site you want to check out. www.mini-delta.com. Lots of Japanese countryman stuff!

Hmmm...You sure? It seems like it blows up and away from the windshield, up towards the sunroof.

There is another vent up near the windshield at the back of the dash that does the defrost/fog.

Of course...I wasn't trying to be technical but I can feel it as well whenever the Sport Mode is on. I was just giving a suggestion to the MPH that when switched moving, it's very noticeable.

I realized today that i hate that the doors do not open wider. It makes it rough for me to get a nice cleaning done.
