I saw on one of these forums that Mini USA decided to start selling the diesel version of their Minis in the US? Any truth to this rumor? Anyone? I'm going to be semi upset because I would have opted for a diesel, no questions asked.

there has been talk of it, butI doubt it'll be available any time soon. They were looking at an entire new engine all together for it.
