Positive reinforcement

So after a year of ownership - S, ALL4, 6speed, sport suspension, non run-flats, I took MAXI in for an oil change at 14,000 miles. (Mind you, I changed the oil and filter twice already, once at 2,000 and another time at 8,000. Brake fluid will be next in a couple months.) The dealer also did the water pump recall and replaced the oil sensor because of a leak. For a loaner, they gave me a similar vehicle, just with auto, run-flats, no sports suspension, and no all-wheel.

Bottom line: really glad I ordered what I did and dumped the run-flats .

Cool to hear that. So did the computer tell you that you needed your oil changed at 14,000 miles even though you changed at 2,000 and 8,000 or did you just opt to do so at 14,000? I'm trying to figure out if you ever get that free one if you opt to change it yourself before being told to......thanks!

The computer has no way of knowing that you have changed the oil. When the oil is changed at the dealership, they will reset the oil change interval.

@pmr49 -- Thanks for posting your GOOD news

The dealer obviously tracks the duration of ownership, and at one year - time to change the oil! When I had the other oil changes done, the indy did not reset the service indicator. The last thing I'll do is shortchange myself on the included service program.

Oh, ok. For some reason I thought that the computer told you when you need maintenance based upon your driving habits etc. Did not know they were predetermined intervals.

Similar experience with me taking my CMS in for some work and getting a Hardtop. The one freeway we have is old cement and talk about a washboard!!!!! I was glad to get my CMS back even though it has RF's. It must be the suspension that helps.

You are correct, but if you drive really low miles or your driving is passive (why would you have a MINI?), the turn of the calendar is the default prompter.
