R60 Replace Speakers/Remove Door Panel
Anything New on this?
Yep, that's it!
Unfortunately, you will not be able to send any more through them successfully. The voice coils tend to melt after 35W RMS. They're just crappy. They can, however, be replaced. Do not go the box route.
Like I said, I'll post a tutorial up soon regarding replacing them with some serious bass without adding anything to the trunk. I think the cost will be around $400 total.
Thanks for the kind words - I like it, but I keep getting the itch to mod something new every day.

Any new theories on this???
How funny, I just found this thread yesterday morning while looking up how to remove the door handles for plastidip. Turns out it really isn't needed anyways though. Very happy to se the information being shared.
On a related note, I'd love to see your plans for more bass theta. My wife and I have the HK sound system and white the bass is surprisingly nice, it lacks the real deep lows that we crave.

That's the major problem with the design - the low frequencies really aren't being sent properly to those under-seat 'subs'. They're not just under-powered, they're also receiving very little signal.
The re-design still uses the enclosures, etc. but is going to take some time to figure out how to place the wiring, amp, etc.

Dorman Help! (part # 49051) plastic trim removal tools. They are red in color and they do the job very well. Less than 20 bucks. I bought mine at AutoZone. Other parts stores may also have it.
Replaced front speakers with Focal Integration ISC 100's
I just replaced the front door speakers in my 2013 CMS with 4" Focal Integration ISC 100 speakers. I paid a car audio dealer $55 to install them because I was having trouble getting the door panels off. These speakers are a terrific upgrade from the base speakers. I had purchased 4 to replace the back, but after installing the fronts and seeing how little volume comes from the rear speakers I decided not to bother.
This is a great upgrade that really makes the audio sound much better from the non HK stereo package. I recommend this upgrade. I bought the 4" Focal Integration ISC 100 speakers from Crutchfield for $149 pair.
If anyone was wondering if these speakers fit in a R60 Countryman, you are good to go!

Hi Theta. Do you mind posting the instructions for the front door removal again? For some reason the front door instructions aren't showing anymore. Thanks!

I am getting my R60 in the next few weeks. Got the HK system and I am actively designing a better set to upgrade. Found this posting and joined just to send this question... Where did the info go? Can it come back?...
Anyone? mcFly you out there?.
2016 Countryman, Non HK speakers, All but 2 clips pop straight out with a lot of force but the two different style large clips near the latch don't pop straight out. Pop all the small clips first then, to keep from breaking these 2 large clips, slide the door panel up and these 2 large clips slide apart instead of breaking.
greetings
Hi theta, I've been scouring the whole internet to find out how to remove my door panels on my 2012 Mini Countryman. Can't find nothing. I ran across ur thread but the pictures have all gone missing. Any way u can send em to me or a link so I can see them? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! Tried to PM you about these pics, but your inbox was full. Curious to know if you still have these...I'm itching to upgrade my speakers. Thanks in advance!

So far, this is all I've been able to find, and it's not really a what we're looking for, but it does lend some insight to the doors themselves.
Front Door:
Rear Door:
I'm going to give my rear doors a try this weekend as they are the least used and will give me more time to fix if needed. I figure i'm going to attempt at installing some Polk Audio DB402 4". Seems the consensus on size if 4", but the depth is the concern. These have a top mount depth of 1.79" so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these will fit.
If anyone has any insight to the removal of these doors, please, chime in! If I get one right I'll make sure to do a step by step to post up later, but for now any and all insight would be greatly appreciated.
Front door panels are quite easy to remove. Took me like 15 minutes max to disassemble them on my countryman. I've removed them on my old R53 as well and they were just as easy.
Used a couple torx screw drivers, plastic pry tools and some force and everything comes off easy. The grab handle cover pops off and underneath there are some torx screws hidden.

Does anyone have detailed instructions on removing the door panels in a 2012 Countryman All4 S? I have searched this forum and haven't found any. This is really frustrating!
Thank you all in advance for your assistance.

If you bother reading this....I read further and found more info, so I may be good to go. Ordered a set of plastic tools for the removal today. Once I get it apart, I'll measure and order speakers.
Thanks again for your patience.
