R60 'Protective Bootspace Cover' for the R60 Countryman?
'Protective Bootspace Cover' for the R60 Countryman?
I found this item on eBay from MINI of Mahwah (NJ) and on the accessories list PDF, but there is scarce mention, either by name or part number, on the internet, and images that don't suck (like the one in the auction) are literally impossible to find.
eBay item number 120673847612

Does anyone have one, have any experience with one, or have any better pictures of one?
I'm considering for mine, as I really only use 1 or 2 seats 98% of the time, and bought the car for the AWD and capacity more than the back seat (this item requires the back seats to be folded, and fills/protects the entire cargo compartment).
Part no. 51-47-2-179-301
TIA and cheers,
Tad

I just like the idea of it for loading up camping gear in the entire cargo space. If you decide to order it, go through some of the vendors for 20% discount (probably cheaper than ebay).
Another GREAT alternative is the Poochstyles mats. Although originally designed for dog use, they offer the same protection (more options however). I have no affiliation with poochstyles btw, but know they just came out with the 'cargo' mat for the Countryman.

The dealer indicated the end of the month before a couple of the cars they ordered with the flat load floor option arrive. I want to see what MINI sells for $250. I used the original piece as a template and cut a 2x4 $15 piece of plywood, covered it withe an old fleece blanket with a dowel as a prop to hold it up. 2 hours and maybe $25.

Hey Miniblue2,
I've seen pictures (I think) of your work, and it's great. My only question is if you can then fold the original piece back down again -- say you want to fold down one of the seats, but not two. Is the plywood thin enough that you can fold the original piece down into the "boot cover" position?

No the dimensions don't work. I made a second piece. When we travel I use the boot for luggage and put the dog on the folding floor over the rear seats. By the way, the car seat hooks on the backs of the rear seats work great for the dogs harness.
I can put all my junk (compressor, tire plugs, gloves, bungies, hard hat, tool carryall etc.) in the boot, cover it all for the luggage or shopping.
