Wondering if folks have any experience or advice regarding toting a two-wheel bicycle that is used by an adult? (As opposed to a kid's bike, which would be smaller and lighter.)
There are carriers for the roof (I've seen them on MINIUSA) and then others that attach to the rear of the car via a hitch. I don't like the kind that use straps and metal brackets to temporarily attach to rear hatches and the like.
Would like it to be easy to use, unlikely to inadvertently cause damage to the car, and not horribly expensive. Possibly being able to handle two bikes would be nice, but not mandatory.
Thanks in advance!

I don't carry my bike on my MINI. The strap-on carrier does harm to the thin paint, and the gate on the hatchback is really a bit flimsy for loading it with much weight anyway. I use my second car for chores like this. However, if I only had one car, I'd use the hitch-style carrier from a company like Mini-Fini http://www.minifini.com/Default.aspx

I use a MINI Do More hitch with a Kuat Sherpa rack for my 40lb. full suspension bike. Works like a charm, but it sucks getting on and off when I have to parallel park in the street.

I bought a CM because it will fit my adult bike in the back, no carrier required. I like to keep my bike out of the elements and locked up inside. And I'm tired of having a bike rack that dents up the paint.

Interesting...I was planning to put with Wife's fold-up Dahon bike in side the hatch on my CM and get the roof rack with carrier for my non-folding full-size bike.Originally Posted by atlchica

Does anyone have comments on the 3 different roof-mount bike carriers on the Mini accessory site? Can't seem to find much on these forums about them.
Mike.

I'm waiting to install my rack but this past weekend I went Mt biking with my hardtail (26er) size medium.
One of the rear seats was occupied by a child seat but it was pretty snug trying to get it in there with one rear seat down (front wheel off)
If you can put both seats down then it would be easy but you'll be tracking dirt inside your shiny new CM.
