On page 8 (page 10 including cover) of the on line addition of the Countryman OWNER'S MANUAL, there is a picture of a key fob on a ribbon rather than a chain. Is anyone familiar with this? Does it have some use? Any clue who sells them?

It appears to be a variation on this one. The metal loop is in the shape of race track. Your local MINI parts counter should have one. Or, Google mini cooper checkered key fob and you'll find one.

Oh, and as with many things MINI - - - what does it do? Looks spiffy and helps send MINI exectutive's kids to private schools.

Wow I've been looking for this since when I got my R56. A bit costly, but I might splurge.

 

I kept the chains from both my 2005 and 2007. Both of them I liked better than the ribbon they didn't give me until I asked if one came with the car. I told them to keep it. The 2005 is a metal ring with a spinner in the center with MINI on it. The ring says MINI of the Woodlands. The 2007 was just a metal tab with Mini on one side and the MINI of the Woodlands on the other.
