Purchase Order as Contract?

When I signed my purchase order in November to order the ALL4, looks like my MA made a mistake and quoted the price at $1750 below MSRP (exactly the price of the NAV/Connect which is listed on the PO). My question for the community...is this a legal and binding contract on their end? My MA gave me a final price today that was $1750 higher without referencing our original contract since my car is a few weeks from arriving.

I'll leave the legal question to the lawyers (or Judge Judy) but you may have some negotiating leverage. However, if the spirit of the agreement was that you were going to pay full MSRP and the MA just made an error of omission, then you should pay the correct amount. If you feel misled, then neogitate. If you feel OK about capitalizing on someones error, then stay firm.

I guess it depends on the situation. If you asked "how much" and they gave you a price it would be reasonable to ask them to stick with it. If you knew the price going in and it was a simple mistake then I'd say you shouldn't be a jerk about it.

Over the years I've had a few situations with Rasmusen where thigs didn't go as well as they should have. One was a mishap with the radio getting replaced with the wrong one multiple times (their fault), another was the engine failing just outside of warranty (no their fault). In both situations they handled it amazingly and fought hard for me to make it right.

Personally I'd discuss it with them but know that you are working with an upstanding dealer who does know about customer service and regardless of the pricing error, you'll very likely be completely satisfied long term with what you pay.

thanks everyone...my MA took responsibility for his mistake by discounting the price $500. I think it is a fair compromise and I don't want to be a jerk as I plan on having a long and healthy relationship with him and the dealership if they continue to produce such amazing autos.

That's great news! They have always been great to work with from my perspective. Stuff goes wrong now and then, no dealer can prevent that. But it seems Rasmussen always handles things well when they do.

Portland helped me get a better price in Tacoma, by asking NW-MINI to match Rasmussen....... And I have never even seen the Portland dealership....
