Hello from Iraq
Thanks elijah, i sent you a pm. I put a Mini poster up in my can, it says the "Even in the darkness, the path to motoring enlightment shines bright" and it glows in the dark. Are there any others out there?
Hey diaemus, thanks for your commitment to our country and not only that but to the entire free world. All of you are highly appreciated as you know... My opinion is that you stay with the runflats for now, however, the red lounge leather is the way to go! (Dark Silver looks great).
Sounds like you know what you want
. I felt the same way as your wife did when my hubby first wanted to look at a Mini, I feel in love on the first test drive and have yet to loose that silly grin
.
Like all the other posts above, thanks so much for your service so that I can continue to enjoy my freedom, I appreciate it more than words can say. I have family that is in the Air Force, and my brother-in-law has to go back to Quatar next month.

I'm dumb, i didn't realize (even after hours on the configurator), that the crown spokes come with the all weather tires and theyre still run flats ( to my knowledge). Although, if thats the case i dont know why it still offers it as an option. Thanks for the support guys. I dont really need anything, except literature to read. I'm still torn between red and black lounge leather. This is actually my second time over and thankfully we have alot safer mission. The biggest enemy right now is boredom. Thanks again, and S/F to all those Marines and supporters back home.
I looked at the red vs black lounge leather. Both are good, black is more subtle and steathy, red is "in your face" and "take notice of me" nice.
Another option I'll throw out is this for upholstery- pick something basic (low cost) like cloth or even Leatherette (which is quite good in the R56). It's durable and later if you want you can custom cover your front seats for not that much- talk to an auto upholstery shop. You pick the color or color combos, stitching, any custom emblems and make a budget. They can match or enhance any MINI seat and keep the airbags.
Finally, even if it seems safer where you are and it seems boring. Be cautious at all times and be watching and be ready for anything to happen.
Stay safe and take no chances.
When i went to test drive all they had was the black lounge leqather which me and my wife both liked. I dont want to get cloth fabric, because it stains. The focus looks like death from to many road trips to ohio and spliing taco bell in it. Unfortunateley, they sold the one with red lounge leather the day prior, and i really had wanted to see it in person.

Stick with the runflats at first, and just upgrade when they wear out, which will be soon.

Also, if you and your buddies need any reading material, or other innocent diversions, (crossword puzzles, sudoko, etc) let me know. I have friends who regularly send novels and such over to you guys for your reading pleasure!
I know the work is exciting, but we all have the downtimes to consider....
Please keep your heads down and eyes open.
