Hello from Oregon!

Hello everyone on NAM! My name is Sam and I'm writing to you from Eugene, Oregon.
I decided to join up on this forum as I will be (hopefully) purchasing a brand new 2007 MCS soon! I'm pretty much sold on the MCS however like most future MC/MCS owners I do have questions, so please bear with me.

1. Servicing: Currently I own a 2001 Mercedes SLK 320 at the time I got it new the servicing was covered through the entire warranty of the car which I believe was 5 years/50,000 miles. Is the same true for the MC/MCS?

2. Servicing: Since I live in Eugene, the closest dealership is up in Portland. I assume standard covered servicing is only covered at the dealership's servicing center?

3. Have any of you seen the Hammer and Coop episodes? Anyone know if they will offer the White Lightning Bolt graphics for MC/MCS?

4. Servicing after warranty: So for anyone who is passed their warranty period with their car have any of you done servicing since? How much is a typical oil change/fluids at the dealership? As you can imagine being a Merc owner that servicing (once passed the warranty period) is nasty expensive.

I guess that is all I have to ask for now. I look foward to hearing your responses and offering my feedback once I get my MCS.

hey here & welcome,

lets see...

1. you get 3years 36K miles - full service
4 years 50K miles warrenty

2. yes, it has to go to a MINI dealer for covered service

3. If you can't get the hammer & coup stripes from MINI - check with a local sign or banner shop = they should be able to reproduce it - just be sure to specify Preimium outdoor vinyl.

Good luck

1. I don't think it covers everything, but you get free oil changes every 10,000 miles. (and I think that's only good until 30,0000)

2. Yes you have to take it to a Mini dealership. BMW dealerships don't qualify.

3. I haven't seen them yet. But it would be easy for any sign shop to duplicate. Just play the video for them and I'm sure they could get it close. Shouldn't be too expensive either because it's only one color.

4. (don't know)

Welcome Sam. Hey, at least you're 70 miles closer to Portland than me down in Roseburg.

My MC came through the Panema Canal this week and is scheduled to reach the port in Port Hueneme on Tuesday. Hopefully, I'll have it in the next couple of weeks.

Here's a photo I downloaded from a dealer in Chicago, so some places must already have the stripes.

I guess I do have one more question one that has been answered already.
So if they offer up 3 years/36000 miles servicing for free is it possible to extend this? And if so does anyone know how much?

Welcome to NAM!

Having your oil changed by the dealer after the service warranty is up is too pricey for my tastes ($60-100)

Get yourself a beer and one of the good write-ups on NAM and do it yourself. Cost you half the money.

Happy Motoring when you get it!
