Baby car seat that fits my MINI HELP!

Hello to everyone!!
I am 7 months pregnant and own a 2006 mini! I love it and I refuse to give him up... I have been in search of a car seat for my newborn and I have not been able to find it... I need help !!! I have been emailing some baby car seat manufactures to ask them about the fit ( if its good or too big etc.) and so far non has had good news...

Arial]Britax :( (literary they sent me back an unhappy face...)

Per prego in quote: Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that both models will work with your car. Attached are the measurements for both the Aria and Primo Viaggio car seat.
Primo Viaggio SIP - 24 1/2" tall, 25 1/2" length from front to back, and
17 1/2" wide.

Aria in the folded position - 36" tall, 13 2/3"

Thank you,

rbit in quote:" We were able to install the Base and Infant Car Seat in the side rear seat position. The rear center position is not a seat, so you should not install it there. The Infant Car Seat rotates very little in the installed side position. Also, for the car we had, you had to bring the front seat back in a very specific sequence (I believe it involved first bringing the seatback back, then sliding the whole seat forward a bit again) to get it to lock. In the convertible, the Stroller was a very very tight fit in the trunk; in the hatchback, it should not be an issue (we can say for certain that we fit much better than either the Bugaboo or Stokke)."
So far this one is the best option I have find but it is $ 800 and I will have to buy a new seat once my baby gets to 16 Lbs....

I also email Garco, Combi and my mini dealer.... I do not have answers from them yet... the mini customer service told me to find out at NHTSA and I did not fin much information.

Can any of you tell me wich brands fit in my car?
Thank you very very much!!!

Welcome Laynie to NAM. I cleaned up your post in my reply to make it easier. The Peg Perego Viaggio will fit in the MINI. In fact most car infant seats will--you just have to move the front seat all the way forward and incline it to almost vertical. Its a little tight until you can move away from the infant carrier to a front facing seat later on----time goes fast though, and you don't need to give up your MINI. We've all been through it--you will find lots of support here.

Check out these threads.

Well you've reached the right place. I researched this topic back in 2003 while my wife was just 3 months pregnant and posted about it on my little MINI site here
http://www.littlemini.us/gallery/baby.asp

I just realized you were asking about the Viaggio, and I'm not certain if that model fits--but the one that I had at the time--the Aria GM--which might be called something different as the models seem to change every year, fit perfectly.

At the time I was interested in a system that would allow me to put my infant into and out of the MINI in the safest manner without a lot of hassle. I didn't want to mess with straps or buckles or seatbelts, so the dockable base was most attractive. In addition, I wanted a stroller that fit the MINI boot, so I went to a local BabiesRUs and asked if I could see if their floor model would fit my MINI, and they said sure!

It only fit one way, but it did fit, and over time, I found that you could squeeze substantially more baby support gear in, around, under, behind the stroller--giving you more than enough space.

Today, my son is 2 months shy of turning 3 years old, and he's pottied trained (recent accomplishment) and life is great. No more diaper bags, or smelly diapers, lol. Time really does go fast.

The stroller as pictured here isn't as heavy duty or cushy as many of the fancy strollers on the market today, but it's comfortable, easy to manage, fits in the MINI boot, and travels well--taken many airline trips with it-a few times some parts were lost, but a call to Peg Perego resulted in parts being sent for free (apparently known issues). I wish I could say that about the umbrella strollers I've tried--which are just a little too long to fit in the boot with the privacy cargo cover on.

Here is a link to some pictures of the Viaggio installed in our MINI (last post). https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=45064. We absolutely loved it. Our daughter has outgrown it now but it served her well. It is an easy insall (I recommend a swim noodle to fill the gap at the rear of the seat). Just clip it in and tighten it up. One thing that I found was the way that the MINI LATCH covers fit, I turned the buckles around and then they clipped in just fine. We had two bases and that made it really nice since I usually dropped her off and my wife picked her up. If you have any questions or need any claification, please let me know.

Hi There!
I am a new mini owner and have a 2 1/2 year old son. Now keep in mind that he is big for his age, 39 inches tall and 40 lbs. for the first few months I had him in a regular car seat in the back, now I put him in a booster seat in the front as the air bags automatically turn off in the passenger side. I push the seat all the way back and we are in business.
He has worked out fine in both seats.....
