Hello from Australia
Hello from Australia
I'm an American transplant in the most isolated city in the world (Perth). Just wanted to say what an amazing place this is. I've been lurking here for a long time, and I thought it was time to at least say hello. I've learned so much from you all, so thanks for that.
I ordered my MINI last week - 2007 CR/B MCC, delivery sometime in March. So, I've got a lot of time to obsess over it.

Hey there, Roo ! Welcome to NAM and congratulations on your recent order.
You picked a great color, of course. I've had my MC for almost six months now and I would order CR again if I bought another. You're going to L O V E your MINI !
I'd guess you were military but I believe Woomera Air Station in the outback is the only place we send folks anymore. So, if I may ask, what brought you to Australia ?
Again, Welcome ! And give us some more specs on the MINI you ordered to keep us happy until we can see your pics.

OK, I specced it out fairly loaded:Chilli pack (which includes H/K sound system, 16" 7-fin alloy wheels, MFSW, chromeline exterior, cloth/leather seats, sports seats), alarm system, SATNAV, DSC, xenon headlights, heated front seats, armrest, wind deflector, and ipod connector.
Whew! I think that's everything
I may be off on what's actually included in the chilli pack, I don't have the paperwork in front of me.
That's as good a reason as any to move 15,000 miles !!
Yep, sounds pretty well loaded up ! Thanks for sharing. Didn't know the new MINIs have a package called the Chilli Pack. You'd think it was a replacement for the Cold Weather Package.
Yep, that's going to be an exceptional MINI when you get it !! Congrats, again.

Well there is that secret CIA listening base just south of the Alice Springs city limits. But don't tell anybody.
Welcome to MINI madness. Spent 2 months in OZ in Jan/Feb 05 covered much of NSW, Victoria, South Austrialia, ACT, the Northern Territorys and northern Queensland. Celebrated Australia Day 1/29 in style with the denizens of Cober Pedy what a hoot that was. At some point everybody drifted to the cemetary where one old miner has a pepetual keg of beer maintained on his grave. Visitors are invited to have a pint on him (literally).
Our 30th wedding anniversary present to our selves. No other place on earth came to mind when I asked Sandy when she wanted to go. Saw enough to know we're coming back soon. We're also looking into retiring to OZ (our US pensions will go much further there). We're thinking Adelaide but we haven't been out your way yet and we haven't seen the Brisbane area yet.
Of all our travels Australia is the only place that we can see ourselves in the future. Yea I know the lucky country - but Oz has cast a spell over us. I guess that makes us what? OZiophiles

Welcome to NAM. Your new MINI sounds like it will be a great one. Have fun, and do not let the wait get to bad. You can look here and ask questions, look at others pictures, and start your own support group. That should help with the waiting.

Perth isn't so bad. Of course, I was only visiting for a few days. Australia is a pretty cool place though. Lots of strange animals to laugh at.

Got some threads and other 'more local' forums for you. Having said that, NAM is a sweet forum - many other Aussies and myself frequent it....

Hey Roobear. I'd guess that if you're US military, and in Perth, you're in the navy. Or you might just have had the good taste to migrate to a more civilized country.
Anyway, welcome to NAM.
