Road Guard rock protection

Hi All,
Our new MINI is due at the dealer (Otto's in West Chester, PA) on Thursday and we have to make a decision about whether or not to get the "Road Guard" rock protection - a clear film over the front part of the hood (sorry - bonnet) that is supposed to prevent chips from flying debris. I have searched around for this on the forums and found some references to a 3M product that sounds similar, but nothing specifically called "Road Guard". Has anyone listening had any experience with either Rock Guard or the 3M stuff to know if it's worth the $500 the dealer wants for it? Thanks in advance for any help!
Waiting to motor,
Cameron

if you do a search on here for Clearbra or Clear Bra, you will find lots of discussions about this pro and con. i'm still trying to decide if i want to do this or not, too. i've seen cars with them and without. happy motoring.

I bought the nose mask for my MINI when I picked it up at the dealer and it has worked pretty well for protection but was a pain to keep clean especially in the northwest where we get lots of rain. I did have ClearBra put on a couple of months after delivery and that was the best investment I could have made. It looks very nice and you can hardly see it until you get up close. For the protection it provides I think its a good idea, especially on the MINI as they are known to be rock magnets. If the dealer is only wanting 500 thats a pretty good deal. I had the bonnet, front bumper, all the lights,, mirror caps, door edges and the top of the rear bumper where you open the boot done. To me its well worth getting it done from delivery and then your always protected.

I agree. I had Clear Bra installed on both my MINIs and have never felt safer, with regard to protection from stones, etc.

I had a clear film (called Diamond Shield) installed on my RV. The big flat front of an RV picks up rock chips and alot of bugs. I have been very happy with it. It is easy to clean. I was told to use Aerospace 303 on it. I'm going to have my MINI install the clear shield.
