Quick Question for new fathers
Quick Question for new fathers
Howzit!
My wife and I currently own a 2006 Mini Cooper and our baby is due this september
. We currently have 3 other BMW's and the infant seat fits perfectly fine. I was just wondering if you guys recommend any infant seats that would fit in our Mini Cooper? Also when we bought our mini, the SP told us that the mini's are equipt with the lower column latch for easy install. TIA

I can't help you directly. Our daughter had already moved on to booster seats before we got our MINI. There is some discussion about infant seats on MINI2 (http://www.mini2.com/forum/minis-children-parents/). MINI actually offers a line of child seats, although I do not believe they are available from MINIUSA: http://accessories.mini.com/internet...alePath=/UK/en
Well if mother's are allowed to post to this thread, we have a briax marathon in the back of ours and it works very well. At present, it is front facing, but we checked and it also works rear facing with the passangers seat forward. BTW, my motering partner is 18 months old and he loves the sunroof!
I don't have my car yet so I was hesitant to answer...
We have a Britax Roundabout in our Saturn that we fully expect to fit into our Mini when it arrives. The only downside of a Roundabout is it does not have a pop-out infant carrier...it's the permanent seat type. We also have a Graco Snugride, the infant carrier type seat, it's huge though...I would not expect it to fit in our Mini.
Congratulations on your soon-to-be new arrival!

First of all, congratulations!
We have a MCc and a 3-series sedan. We have used both the Graco Metrolite travel system (where the carrier snaps into the base) and a standalone car seat, the Britax Roundabout.
Both of these will snap into the LATCH connectors in the back seat of either car. The Britax is MUCH nicer than the Graco, though. I can swap it in and out in under a minute. The LATCH connection is made seatbelt-like, with a push-button release. VERY slick. Our Graco on the other hand had much more frustrating hooks.
The Graco base+carrier will fit into the MINI, but it's a tight fit. A lot will depend on how tall the person in front of the car seat is. My wife is 5'4" and can sit in front of the baby with no trouble, but at 6'5", it's more than a bit uncomfortable for me. We would always put the top down to get our daughter in the car then close it.
MUCH easier than trying to fit the carrier in that way.
The Britax also takes up less room, front to back- when we switched, we gained a couple of inches more room for the front seat to go back.
