New Member Meaty's Mini From Minneapolis
New Member Meaty's Mini From Minneapolis
I would just like to say hello to everyone and introduce myself. My new used car is a Cooper S 2004 with the aero package. I have customized the engine and am customizing the interior and exterior for performance driving, rallying, and straight line racing. Since I am originally a 911 Porsche nut for 19+ years I have now tossed the last Porsche out the window and am totally dedicated to Mini Coopers.
I am excited about the clubs for Minis and all the options available to enhance the car. I am hoping to meet some of you readers but I am not an email fan and would rather talk on the phone. I am more than happy to pay for the call no matter where you are in the world.
One of the local guys in Minneapolis mentioned a rally race in Colorado in September which I hope to attend when I return from China and Japan. That's if I can get back in time from overseas. I am a designer and own a manufacturing company which allows me time to go to many events and socialize with our members.
After rallying in the U.S. I am interested in shipping my car to Europe to participate in some of the rallies over there. I am assuming that some of the members are knowledgeable about the better rallies in the U.S. so I would appreciate hearing from those of you who can steer me in the right direction. Only if you are able to spare some personal time to contact me. I would be very grateful for this. I used to race years ago but am not a motorhead and do not work on cars. This I leave up to the pros. I am a driver.
I am also interested in seeing pictures of Minis with body modifications. I've flipped through the Gallery but haven't come across any. There must be a few out there and I would love to see some photos. Please keep in mind that I am working on a Mac so photos would need to be in jpg format.
When I was in my mid 20's I was doing the rock star thing, signed with a record company, making albums and touring in a heavy metal band. I was a double bass power drummer so my fans called me Meaty. Of course this was in my irresponsible years, but the nickname has stuck with me. Hence, my title of Meaty's Mini. Hope you get a laugh out of it. I sure do.
Now you know who I am and what I am interested in. Back to the car. I have done all the bread and butter stuff. Top end work to the engine, exhaust, Dinan Stage 1 Software, tires and rims, slight modifications to the interior of the car. Then I went to Stage 2 Dinan software. Now I've eliminated stage 1 and 2 software and went to the unichip. Now one of the shops that works on my car is doing custom setup for my valves. I need to put the new can in and some other things just so long as they are apples for apples, I am willing to do it. And tomorrow, the bigger break kit is going on the front with a special order on the back two drilled rotors. I see that there is a limited edition of the Cooper S coming out with 2000 made and 400 are coming to North America. Each are numbered, just like a limited edition toy. And then, here comes the 2007 twin turbo. I saw a photo of it today. There are some things about the interior of the car that I just don't understand. It looks like they took the cheap route. But, just like anything, photos lie and you have to see it in person.
In any case, here is my contact information. I will be surfing around reading other member's talk and love looking at the photos of other member's Minis.
I am happy to be part of this group because this car gave me a breath of fresh air.

Custom Wide Body
Hello, Dave
I was thinking about doing something with the wheel wells..More of a wide body Look, Other then the factory stock wells..I would like to add four wide tires on the Meaty Mini, I am looking into this and talking with the Pro's..Might not work !
