StereolabGoing to hit up Long Beach Mini tomorrow morning for some test drives then on to a Scion dealer for some more. I know once I sit down in that MCS my decision will be made and pockets will be emptied.

So you test drove the MINI first and that's what you ended up buying one (the only "correct" decision .) Only question is, after test driving a MINI, did you even bother going to the Scion dealer?

Congrats and great choice! While I like the Scion (drove one at the beach over the 4th), it was basically transportation, not much fun to it. Now comes the wait, enjoy.
Oh, and check the link at the bottom of my sig .

The fact that you are on here posting the question is fact to the question if you are a car person or not!

Hard To Make A Decision?

Easy...get both!...

Had a Regular Mini a few months before getting my MCS. (My training wheels)

It is fabulous, and you really have to learn to drive it properly without it having a supercharger and stiffer suspension. I found that once it got going, I was able to keep up pretty well with the Supercharged ones in our club!

GET THE MINI!!!

I tend to agree with this - and mine was even a CVT! Even though the MCS's were pulling away in the straights, I learned how to drive the corners well and keep the speed up. (Mind you, at the time, neither those MCS drivers nor I had much experience.)

Going one further, I'd even say that the MC CVT is one of the best cars to learn how to autocross in. Since there is no low-down grunt, you HAVE to learn how to be smooth and keep your speed up around each course in order to get any reasonable times at all!

Mine vs XB..

Going over the different Threads on NAM when I came across this one tonight.

Some one wrote, "simple, get both". They are different enough that it is not a fair comparsion. Our Cooper, will be in less than two weeks from now. The Chev, is going - but the XB is staying. Dependable, and will last for a long time.

XB is very practical, and will haul everything from groceries to large pieces of furniture. On the road, it is decent. Will run 75 -80 all day long and is reasonable with comfort. It's strong point is a daily hauler for most anything around town.

The COOPER will be the "CAR", the one that Mama and I will have fun in and go places in. No comparsion,

PS: both will fit in the garage and I still have plenty of room for my shop

Hope that you have been enjoying your MINI.
