Old Guy, new hobby!

First time here, Hi everyone! Glad to get registered. I've been around the block a time or two, but only recently in a MINI. I'm so new, my only experience is a test drive with my wife and a salesman! I've been hooked since I was a kid and they were called "Austin Mini's" Now, thanks to a new job and lightening of some responsibilities, it looks like we'll finally be owning one! Can't wait!!! I've designed several on the MiniUSA web site, and can't honestly decide, but we're thinging seriously about the MC/S Convert Pw/Green top. Any ideas about this. I have more questions, for later. david

Welcome and congrats! NAM is a great place to be, with plenty of folks here to fuel your passion. I found that one test drive was really all it took to become engrossed in this MINI thing! It really is hard though - first all of the agonizing decisions about the build, then the desperate wait for your MINI to be built and shipped. I do hear, however, that once your car is here the pain from the wait is quicky forgotten, and have heard very few "wish I woulda got that instead"s. So have fun configuring that MINI! Have never seen the PW/G Cabrio, but have seen a PW/B one around here - IMHO the black top looks much better, but MINI is all about making it your own - what YOU love best - so go for it!

Questions

Thanks to those who responded so quickly. After about two hours of puttering around the site looking for answers from the "search" engine, I haven't found much! :impatient Cooper (nonS) starts to go there. What does anyone think about the 07's and the turbo vs supercharger? Should I wait, or get an 06? Also having once owned a new beetle, and gotten a surprise $600 service bill for 60K maintenance, does MINI have anything of this kind after warranty? Just so I can save up! Again Thanks! david
