Hi, New to site. I drove Mercedes for over 20 years, classy car...no power what so ever! Loved the look of the Mini, traded my classic 78 Mercedes for a 2002 liquid yellow Mini. POWER AT LAST! It's like learning to drive with the excitement of a 16 year old newly licensed driver. (I'm a BIT over 16) I can't believe how much power a 4 cy. has. The way it hugs the curves...what else is there to say? Only a couple of unforeseen problems...1. Big trucks LOVE to put less than 1 inch of space between our bumpers at stop lights. (What's up with that?) 2. Trying to fit my 6 month old grandson into his rear facing baby seat in the back seat of a already tight for space car. My chiropractor LOVES my new car. I think I've already put new tires on his suv. Does anyone else have trouble with cars shoving their grills into your mini's backside or is it the fun thing to do here in MO.?

Hey Dix,

I too used to drive a Mercedes, or as my mechanic called it, the German Taxi. It was an 88 300e with a couple of mods. Still ran great when i sold it. But I've always been a small car guy at heart. 65 VW bug, 76 BMW 2002...you see the trend. I love having a stick shift again and being able to zip in and around traffic. Welcome and don't let those grills in the rear view mirror put you off.

Welcome to NAM.

It is the fun thing to do here in MO. My wife and I always have this problem in the KC area. The worst is this guy who lives around here that drives a dark gray diesel lifted with exhaust stacks on each side. His front bumper is about our roof height. Being we have the convertable he could roll right over us. I just hope he does not forget we are there sometimes and crunch us.

Dix:
I'm new to the site, and have yet to buy my Mini, but will likely order one MCS) on Saturday. I'll be selling my much-loved '94 Mercedes E320 wagon -- black with just 55,000 miles on it. I hate to see it go, but even with the low mileage, it's an old car and it can be a challenge to keep everything humming along. The Mini will be an extra car for my wife and me. Debated between the Mini and a Miata. The extra space (imagine!) the Mini offers is what swayed us.

I grew up with a 1961 MB 190 sedan (I was corrupted early).

I haven't had the tailgater at stop sydrome around here. I always stop a bit less than a car length behind. I would try moving a little forward after the jerk behind you stops. If they move forward, then pull out the gun (JUST KIDDING!).
