I think this has been hashed & rehashed plenty, but that's never stopped me from posting before.

I definitely would have purchased from the local NW MINI dealership if I could have. I'd even have paid the $595 over MSRP markup rather than deal with the hassle of buying out of state (flight, gas, extra miles, loaner issues, etc.). MofM were fine to deal with, but its much easier to buy from a place that's only an hour drive away rather than a 15 hour drive away.

However, the fact is that NW MINI could not get me a 2006 MINI S - only a 2007, which I do not want. I really had no choice given that requirement.

Minitee,

Well said Minitee. In my case, I had been putting off buying a Mini for over a year because of the long wait or the dealer markups. My two closest choices were Long Beach and Brecht in Escondido.

I checked them again in April and Brecht wanted a markup of $2,000 to custom order a car. Long Beach had a 6 to 8 week wait. I wanted to custom order. Then I realized the 2006 production was nearing the end. I really wanted to buy a 2006 not a 2007.

Buying out of state became a viable alternative and an excuse to take a Mini vacation.

Hey any choice you make to get a Mini in your driveway is a good one! No justification required...
