Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group
HPUdrew I completely understand your madness. I don't get Mrs. Peel for 3 weeks yet, but today I cleaned my present car inside and out and also straightend up the garage. A RED MINI drove by my house and that got me even more motivated. I ordered a large poster of Steed and Mrs Peel for my garage wall. Also, my Husband make a CD with alot of traditional British Music for us to play when we pick her up. I'd have the Avenger theme song on it if I could fine it. See we are all crazy!! You will have to give Bliss a big hug from all of us. Hope you can sleep tonight. Give us all the details.
I've been introducing all of my relatives to Buddha. So far everyone likes Buddha and Buddha likes everyone. Buddha gave everyone test rides and test drives.
Then, two of my friends came over...well, Buddha was a bit miffed that they gave him the cold shoulder. "So? You bought another car?" Buddha says he doesn't want to give them rides, or go visit them. Besides, they live in Northern VA, and he doesn't like Northern VA. He says it reminds him too much of New Jersey, and he didn't like it there either.
I have discovered that Buddha is very opinionated.

So "Blue" doesn't have a name yet? How about "Blue"? Simple, to the point and no one will ask you why/how you named him that.
Would have loved to have seen the special on the Panama Canal. I certainly remember learning about it in school but it's totally fascinating to watch and consider now. What a world (no pun) of difference it has made. Without it, the world would be without so many things. Like MINIs!!!

Now Buddha, what did they teach you about us silly Americans. Manners are important for you little fellows. Mrs. Peel will live in Northern Va and I am sure you would like her.
Just kidding you know.

Drew,
Sounds like the "crib" is ready!
Very, very excited for you and Bliss. Did you decide on the license plate, yet?
Btw, I mailed your twisty mousepad the other day (or did I already tell you that)? Perhaps you can print out a wee tiny Bliss photo and put it on the twisty road. Oh...that's bad. What we all need is a mouse that looks like our MINIs.
I am officially beginning the "final weeks" crazies me thinks. If I take delivery on or about the 20th (hope, hope, hope) I'm in the last 3 weeks...arrgh...sounds too long...ummm...the last 20 days (better).
Enjoy the blissful event of your new baby!

I've had similar reactions. My brother went with me to pick up Blue (there, I guess I've named him) and he road back to my house with me across the Virginia and Maryland countryside and the ferry across the Potomac. He was very impressed with all aspects of the car and couldn't stop talking about it.
Some people, however, just don't seem to get it. "Oh, that's a cute little car, can you actually fit in it?" or other silly comments. Those are rare and we won't be hanging around those folks much. We went to Lowes today and a couple of ladies (much older than us) stopped us in the parking lot to comment on the car and how much fun it must be. We like those kind of people. If I drive our Acura SUV to Lowes nobody ever comments on it. As a matter of fact no one has ever made an unsolicited comment on the SUV and we've had it several years. I've had Blue just a little over a week and I've heard dozens of comments from perfect strangers (some in Northern Virginia).
Buddha is a wise fellow and a good judge of character.

Thanks for the info on the program. LOVE "Extreme Engineering". Did you ever see the one on bridges? Wow!

Well, it's off to dream of twisty roads and fun motoring. 17 hours left of LBM.
*Life before MINI*
g'night all!Drew
Beau, yeah I know what you mean. For some reason, no one has ever commented on my Jeep, except to ask if I "ever wash that thing?" LOL (UH, no...the dirt is holding the 15 year old paint on)
Wow, I'm away from the thread for a couple days and it goes crazy with pick-ups!! Congrats to everybody who has picked up their MINI since I last checked (which is quite a few)!!! May you have many happy days of motoring
!
Drew, have fun today! I hope you have a good experience.
Nitro is up to just over 400 miles now, and has loved every minute of those miles. I took a friend for a ride yesterday and included some good twisties and entrance/exit ramps in the course. All he could do while we were going around turns was laugh - it was great! I haven't had any strangers comment on Nitro yet, but I have gotten some long looks and head turns from other drivers. And I'm glad to say that every other MINI I've seen on the road has waved back at me! Yesterday a few members of our local club got together for a small cookout at another member's house. At one point we were all outside checking out each other's cars when one of the next door neighbors came home. On his way in the door, he stopped, gave us all a weird look, and said "That's a lot of little cars".

Yep. Am watching but I don't see the AUTO BANNER on AISLive (Atlantic Approach)...YET! Should be there today and on it's way through the canal. I think it takes the better part of a day to get to the Pacific side. After that maybe we can track it better.

WW vs NYK
Krikey...
The WW ships and lapping the Auto Banner. I've seen the Trinidad, the Medea (one I thought we'd be on), etc.
They need another option for us westies. By the time we get our MINIs, they'll be almost two months old. That's too old to have not yet motored!

I love my job... my boss told me to take a half day today so I might pick up BLISS a little early. :-) More time to motor today! I'll make sure to take good pics and post them here soon.
