In just a few hours, I will be picking up my new MINI, and, with some sadness, leaving behind my 98 Ginster GTI. My little tank, aka "The Short Bus", has served me well, forging through foot-high flood waters, plowing through blizzards, and acting as a camper, when necessary, all while hauling around my bass rig. With 114,000 miles on the clock, it has only left me stranded once when the starter went out - I'll be sure to never stall again in the drive-thru lane! The longest I've spent in any car was in this car - 26 hours straight - for Phish's last shown in Covenrty, VT. After spending the night in Montreal, we drove 2 hours to our exit off of I-91, then spent 24 hours in traffic to go 13 miles to the festival grounds because the mud was so bad. Maddening.

We had a "The Short Bus" around here. But she sold out and went to a MX5 Miata...

 

It's one of those things, I've heard any and every boxy yellow vehicle called 'the short bus' forever.
