New Member to the Mini Family

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Glad to see there is a place where Mini owners can aks/answer questions.

Traded in my Jeep Wrangler this past Saturday for a 2004 MCS with 20K miles. Dark metallic silver, just about every option and still smells new. Drives like a dream!. I do have to tell a little story about the big day.

Saw the Cooper sitting on the lot and had to take a closer look. Right on cue, the moment I stepped onto the lot the sales reps were circling ready to attack. This little 50+ y/o woman came over and introduced herself. Seemed nice enough. She took my information and gave me the keys for a test drive. So, my first sign of trouble should've been when she told me she couldn't drive the car because it's a manual. I notice that the gas is low, so she points me to their preferred filling station. So here she is filling up the tank, meanwhile I am sitting in the drivers seat with my feet hanging out the front door. I am leaned over looking under the dashboard (drivers side) looking for the hood pop. (didn't know it was on the passenger's side) Anyway, all of a sudden I feel this cold rush over my head and down my back. Also, through the corner of my eye, I see something splashing on the dashboard. I look up and see the little old lady looking back at me with the filling nozzle in her hand, shocked as hell. She had just showered me and the driver's side of the MCS with gasoline. Of course she apologized and then confessed to me that she didn't know how to fill the car. It wasn't until 15 minutes later that she said, "Oh, I know what I did wrong. I forgot to let go of the handle when I pulled it out of the tank." WOW what a genius!! Needless to say, three hours later, I left the lot with a Cooper S and a buzz from the gasoline. Fortunately, the smell left the car quickly after they detailed it, but can't say the same for my clothes, that even after a wash, still wreak!

Can't wait to start modifying the MCS. Hope to post some pics soon!

Great story. "Forgot to let go of the handle when I pulled it out of the tank" must be a new low for salespeople. Hope they gave you a better deal because of her incompetance.
Congrats on the purchase of the MINI. It only gets better from here.

Congrats matt! I'm a big guy, so I'm going to stand in front of you when people start blasting you for calling a 50 year old a "little old lady"

So how many gallons does the interior of a MCS hold? Congrats on the car - happy motoring and don't forget to add some pics!

KennyMooper: Wow, my own personal body guard!! I can stand behind you and pick fights with people. "You're lucky he's holding me back!!"

rhawth99: Didn't realize the Cooper has a reservoir tank, huh? Think it's a dealer added option!

In other cars I think they call that "the passenger seat".
