So my mini was all set to be delivered to the dealer today which would have meant I could pick up on Saturday. But I just spoke to my MA and he said that there was "damage" to the car when they were putting it on the truck to bring it to the dealership. Apparently, it is just the rim (thank goodness) and it is on order and should be received today. But that means that baby mini won't be out to the dealership until tomorrow which makes Sat pick up a small chance. I was getting so excited and now I have to wait an entire additional week!!!! Poop. 'Nough said.

that sucks flankmank. Well, just think that a week wait is nothing compared to what you have already waited, right? No, I know, I was just trying to make you feel better. Sorry its taking extra time. At least the top layer of the truck didnt fall on it.

Dang! That stinks! It's okay, don't worry... early next week is nothing. I'd be more concerned about the damage they did to the car when putting it on the truck. Be sure to check that car out really good before driving away - you wouldn't want to notice anything wrong with it later on down the road. As far as a longer wait goes, I'm with you on that - I was on a boat that docked two days after schedule. It arrived at the port on Tuesday so there's no way it'll be there on Friday, unless a miracle happens... which I highly doubt. So we're both waiting together! Happy waiting! Keep us posted!

Sorry to hear that ... See if you can get the dealer to give you something for the aggravation and inconvenience. Maybe a set of mats or a shirt you really like. Might be worth it.

Like has been said, you've waited a long time a bit more won't kill you. Since your car got it's wheel damage on the truck I would ask that the car be put up on the lift for you to inspect. Take a look to see if any dents or scratches are on the bottom. My guess is they just scratched the side of the rim, but I'd want to know for sure.

Rim damage is not a big deal,,, nice to see they are putting a new rim rather then try to cover it up. I spent years in transportation and have been through the factory the makes the transporters a time or two. The trucks they use are very slick and only touch the car on the tires.

The car goes up one ramp to the first level and there are bars placed in front and behind of each tire,,, straps go over the top of the tires and are tightened up and then the car is lifted straight up to allow for a car underneath.

Unfortunately, if a strap lays over the wheel, it can rub and that is probably what happened to yours.

Actually, these transporters were designed with input from BMW,,, company that makes alot of them is NuVan located just south of Dallas. Nice thing about the rigs is the cars only go up one ramp and are kept level throughout transport. By securing the cars the way they do, the suspension on the car is still working for a smoother ride. Overall, a vast improvement over using chains tied into the frame and the extreme angles of the cars being hauled on the open trucks.

I believe there is a picture of one of the trucks in another thread about a tour of Port Heueme Distribution Center..

Thanks everyone

for the advice and the support. We will definitely check everything out. But it is confirmed that we will not pick up this weekend . The car is not even at the dealer yet and miniusa pushed the estimated delivery date back to tomorrow. So we have to wait until next Saturday - another long week of waiting. And this weekend is supposed to be great too.

An Update or standing still.

so my mini is STILL waiting at the port for a new rim. Now miniusa says del date is 5/1... they keep moving it by one day. I really hope it gets up to the dealer in time for pick up this Sat. You would think they would have extra wheels at the distribution center for crying out loud!!!!

So what happened? Are you getting your car today or what's the deal? Keep us informed... I'd like to know how well they're able to deal with situations like these! Sorry that you've been delayed!

MA said he would call when they get the car... and he said that estimated del date on the miniusa site reflects the day the car hits the dealership. so it seems like they really do not know when since every time I look, that date moves by one day. I am trying not to complain since everything else went very smooth.... I just really need this car by this weekend since I am losing the car I am currently driving starting next week. So aside from just really wanting my mini, there are practical forces here at work as well.
