Hyper Blue MCS ordered! (1st post)

Yesterday, I went to the local MINI dealership (Midwestern MINI) with a configuration in hand, ready to place an order. Before discussing the configuration with the salesperson (who gets the award for the nicest car dealer I've ever dealt with), I test drove both the MC and the MCS. The MC felt a lot like my 98 GTI 2.0L in terms of performance, but with much better handling. I could be happy with this. But, wow! the MCS is more fun than I imagined. Then my wife and I scampered around the lot, trying to get a "real-world" sense of the color choices that the computer monitor just can't provide. Finally, after weeks of agonizing over the options (well, years, really), I had come to a decision, and it was exactly the same configuration that I had walked in the door with. I take that as a good sign! I'm hoping to get my production date on Monday, but I was told it would be the beginning of May, so I'm assuming it's Week 19.

My MINI (to be):
  • Hyper Blue MCS
  • Black roof/mirrors/bonnet stripes
  • Antracite interior
  • Black/Grey leatherette
  • Chrono pack with OBC
  • Cold weather package
  • Sunroof
  • Steering wheel with controls
  • Fog lamps
  • DSC
And thus continues my small-car obsession that began with a 91 CRX Si...

-Ryan
2006 Hyper Blue MCS (on the way in)
1998 Ginster VW GTI 2.0L (on the way out)
2000 Red Honda Civic Si (here to stay)
2003 Dark Red Honda Shadow VLX Deluxe (here to play)

Welcome

Welcome to NAM Ryan!

That's nice car you've got spec'd. I bought my MCS from Midwestern too. Very easy to deal with. When I bought mine there were only a couple of convertibles on the lot. It was very hard for me to pick the color for my MINI. Having examples in the flesh really is the best way. Once you get your production number make sure & call 866-askmini to make sure that your car is as you've spec'd it. Mistakes happen, sad but true. My car's took 5 weeks for each one. Worth the wait though.

Yay! May I say that hyper blue is the best color. I had some other color picked out (cant even remember now) and then I saw a hyper blue at the dealership and had to have it. I have the white roof but the other HB's with black roofs I've seen also look great

I hope you get your car soon

Welcome to the HB/B club.

Did you get the anathricite headliner? With the black roof it looks much better. It was the last decision I made at the dealer and I am so glad. I love it.

Congrats on getting your order in and welcome to the HB club! If you're like most of us, you will go nuts tracking yours through the build and delivery phases.

Congradulations I order MY HB/W with White bonnert stripes JCW MCS on april11 and its should be in production on the april 28. Its a beautiful color in person, I was going with the black roof at first but I changed it when I went to pay my deposite to order the car. On the way back to work from paying the deposite I see a women in a HB/B with black bonnet stripes the exact car I had first ordered so I'm glad I changed to white.By the way I have the same small car syndrome 88 CRX, 92 civic HB, 2004 Scion XB, now JCW mini cooper S.

Thanks, everyone. The sense of community here is amazing. I can't wait to get my order number so I can see what "Support Group" I belong to. I'm gonna need it...

I was almost swayed towards Dark Silver, but the showroom had both DS and HB with black stripes, side by side, and HB was the clear winner for me. What a great color!

Should be taking delivery of my HB/B in the next week or so, it is just about to get to the VDC. Seems white slightly outnumbers black for the contrast, nice to see us catching up.

Welcome to NAM! I know what you mean by the agony of choosing a color. It took me awhile and about 50 builds on the MINUSA site, but I'm quite happy with the CR. Don't drive yourself too crazy in the wait. I know what it was like but it won't be long and you'll get that call saying your MINI is waiting for a good home.

Great choice on the Hyper Blue. But I'm not sure about the black roof Just kidding. Check out my gallery. Hope the wait isn't too agonizing.
