Does anyone know if the bonnet stripes are added at factory or at the VDC?

The reason I'm asking is because motoringfile.com today announced that MINIUSA has just introduced the sport bonnet, boot and roof stripes (that are often found as aftermarket). They're made of "high quality foil" instead of vinyl, but I much prefer them over the standard bonnet stripes.

If the answer is VDC, I'd like to give my MA a headache and change this from my order before my MCS arrives in NY/NJ this weekend. Anyone have any thoughts on what exacly "high quality foil" means? I'm not familiar.

 

In case anyone cares or is interested: I called ASKMINI and was told that the striping is put on at the VPC not at the factory. They encouraged me to call my dealer to see if there's time to change the order; I called and was told that the factory puts these on. Basically, even though these are two different answers...it all comes down to my MCS not getting the sport stripes.

My MA also mentioned that he hadn't yet received any bulletin that this was an option (as was indicated on motoringfile.com).

Regarding "high quality foil": It's not literally a foil, but rather what some english call vinyl. (At least this is what I was told.)

 

My MA said the same thing - if you ordered the stripes "from the factory" in the order process (ie, in step 1 of the configurator or bundled with the sports package) then they are installed at the factory.

My guess is that they are actually installed at the VDC, but probably from the MA's perspective, that's "the factory" (in other words, before he gets the car). I didn't press the issue, but if you're desperate, you may want to ask specifically about this and see if your MA can contact the VDC and ask them to not install the others stripes.

My guess is the MA is reluctant to do this because A) they probably haven't heard of the viper/sports stripes yet / don't have them and B) installing them at the dealer means more cost on their side

I'd like to see a DS/B MCS with black sport stripes... (or white stripes..?)

Anybody have a pic like that?

In the article lists the part numbers with price (w/o installation). There are a number of third party vendors that have offered these stripes for a while, so MINIUSA is a little late. Perhaps, though, it'll be on the configurator and/or included as an option on some of the packages soon.
