Week 12? - I'M OUTTA HERE!
Well, then... sorry to leave you folks...
Unlike some folks I know, I can't afford a car harem. So I came up with the term, "Serial monogamy".
Main Entry: 1se·ri·al
Pronunciation: 'sir-E-&l
Function: adjective
1 : of, relating to, consisting of, or arranged in a series , rank, or row <serial order>
2 : appearing in successive parts or numbers <a serial story>
3 : belonging to a series maturing periodically rather than on a single date <serial bonds>
Main Entry: mo·nog·a·my
Pronunciation: -mE
Function: noun
Etymology: French monogamie, from Late Latin monogamia, from Greek, from monogamos monogamous, from mon- + gamos marriage, from gamein to marry
1 archaic : the practice of marrying only once during a lifetime
2 : the state or custom of being married to one person at a time
3 : the condition or practice of having a single mate during a period of time <monogamy is common among birds>
Summary: "..Love the one you're with.."
I'm replacing my 2003 MCS. At 78000 miles, I decided that I could take a lot of depreciation for what the lack-of-warranty was costing me! My mechanic and Consumer Reports both claim that the early build issues (aka, component reliability issues) have been solved. I'll give it one more chance.

Order details
I just found in another forum that if the Owner's Lounge Order Details page isn't showing your order details, if you view the page source in your browser it sometimes has the details embedded in there even if the page is blank.

You have to sort throgh a little code garbage, but it's there, copy it into MS Word and you can clean it up with a little search and replace...
MY expected delivery date got moved up from 29th to 26th, too bad the dealer is closed tomorrow...

BigKart, love your definitions. I bet you'd be good at creating the made-up names for new cars. I like "car harem" too. But since we only have MINIs it would have to be "MINI harem" for us.
The latest from the human at ASKMINI says my car will be complete on April 1st. That puts me on the cusp of week 13 and 14 so I don't know what thread I belong in. Its all good though. My MINI is about to be born!

Not sure if week 13 and April fools day completion is a good combination
Does anyone know how long it takes from completion to arriving at the dock? Looking at the shipping schedules, there is a ship leaving on 4/2 and the next one is not until 4/7...not sure if we can make it from the factory to the dock in time for the 4/2 sailing.

Naming Cars
I've never gotten into naming cars... if it wasn't for needing to call them out of the street, I'd probably not name my pets! As it is, the pets are named after presidents. Lincoln died recently, but Grant is still going strong. I'm expecting that my next one will be Hilliary. <YIKES!>
By the same logic, I don't tend to yell at my cars either when they do something stupid, like spin out or crash... I sell in-car video equipment for racing, so get a lot of video back. I have found that not everybody holds to the same logic as me. I get a lot of, "Don't let my mom see that part...".

Naming cars:
I'm the opposite. My dad and I have been naming cars since I was a little girl. Some of them creative, some not. Some names stuck, others didn't. I also put great thought into the names I gave stuffed animals as a kid too. Pets have gotten the same treatment Therefore, naming our MINIs has been a given. I am in a dilema as to the name for my new one. I don't want a name that I've seen on the boards or owners lounge. I has to be a 'C' name, stupid I know, but the first MINI was Audrey, the 2nd was Bagheera, so it just seems that #3 has to start with 'C'. It would be a lot easier if I didn't place these unnecessary complications on myself.
I know, I'm a dork

As for the timing, I've read threads where the cars are on the dock awaiting transport the day of or the day after completion. I can't remember the timeline on our other cars. I'll have to do a search to see what it was. I know that you can start putting your VIN into the WW site and it will tell whether or not the car has been booked on a ship yet. That is, if it's booked on WW Lines. If it goes on NYK or another, it's more difficult to track.
Keeping fingers crossed for a WW ship, I need all the info I can get to continue to feed my obsession
I have finally come up with a name that sticks...
I name my yet to be born MINI, "LIAM"
A very English name, and after one of the more snarky lead singers of all time...
A pisstake? Maybe, but my LIAM will be a bruiser, a smokin, drinkin, make your ***** little brother do all the hard work while you make with all his model girlfriends type of track monkey car....that I use to drive to BART and Laguna Seca!

katmeho,
I like the name! Very British indeed. With your specs I think you've got the personality of your car down already
Are you gonna race him?
We did Laguna Seca a couple weeks ago. In the rain. In fact Saturday morning there was snow on the Corkscrew. Crazy. Unfortunately, the whole field had dry tires on and the rain started just after the pace lap. It was a downpour for the majority of the race. The winners were obviously those with AWD. Our Bagheera was slipping and sliding like crazy. Always a good time though. Especially with a MINI!
Still don't have a name for my car.:impatient

Joeypilot,
My car's in the paint shop today too! Love your specs! Is your car coming to the West coast or did you order from out of state? I ordered from Classic in OH, so it will only be on the ship for 9 days. A few days enroute to OH and ready for me to collect

And SkateMom,
I do plan on eventually racing LIAM, but not for a few years. Need to use him as a dual purpose daily driver and trackday car for a bit, save some money before I get a family S4 wagon or something, then I will have a family rocket and LIAM for dedicated track work. Then I will do some competition with him, SCCA, NASA, Phil Wicks, etc...
or maybe Ill just be content with my 15+ events a year at club days. Thats going to be good enough for me for atleast a few years till I really have LIAM under control....

It seems west coast deliveries are not using WW as the shipping line. A bunch of us in week 11 have been waiting a couple of weeks for a boat. I've only heard of one recent boat going to Port Hueneme, the Blue Hawk on NYK Line. It left 3/16. There appears to be another NYK Line boat leaving tomorrow morning, the Orion Diamond. If you're at the port today, you may make it on that one.

My latest update:
I really don't know what thread to post on. My car was complete yesterday and is now enroute to the port of exit. Nothing shows up on WW site when I input my VIN, but it may still be too early. I should end up on a WW ship as my car is coming into the New Jersey port.

Katmeho,
You must be thrilled. I ordered my MCS-JCW on Friday (Mar 31st) with Elysabeth@Brecht. I got my production number on wednesday, and she said that I should have a Week 16 build date (last week of April). Thanks again for the referral. At the very least I owe you lunch...
I love the name that you chose too. You have quite the imagination. I am still trying to come up with a name for mine.
BTW, what is "DG/w" in your spec? I'm assuming that it is the color, but I could not find a color that matches those initials.
Hopefully LIAM has fun on his little cruise.
