Picked her up!
Picked her up!
Hi,
Last night I flew to Cleveland to pick up my MINI. I'll detail my experience later with Classic MINI on their board (a very positive experience)...this message is just to say huzzah!
I drove home (6 hours), keeping mostly to the break-in limits. I can't wait for 1250 to come around!
Even though it was cold out, about 34F, I decided to put the top down on the turnpike. I stop, lower the top, raise the windows, turn on the bun warmer and the heat to max and start down the road again. It took about 1/2 mile before I figured out why the rear wind deflector is a good thing. The cold air was pouring from in between the seats and I was freezing! There was no place to stop (except the shoulder) so I decided to motor on for a while. I look in the back seat to ensure the few things I had back there were secure and got an idea. I had floormats in the box in the back. The box was pretty long, so I flipped it up and the wind pinned it to the back of the front seats. Presto! Ghetto wind deflector! That made it bearable for the most part.
By the next service plaza it decided to put the top up (I was still getting an earful of 75 mph 34F wind). I stop and begin closing the top. Three truckers walk by and start razzing me. "Hey, what are you doing that for? It's not going to get any colder!" I stood up, peered over the windscreen at them and said, "Yeah, but I'm sober now!" Not my best line but it's all that came to me.
This morning my daughter wanted a ride to school with the top down, so I came into work that way. Much more comfy at 40 mph and 44F
.
Anyway, I'm very happy (of course). After I finish Reserve duty this weekend I'll have to work on a sig!
Oh yeah, and...pics posted to my gallery (hopefully!)

I drove with my top down, although it was cold (for us in Southern Cali) but having the seat warmer and heater on made it just fine. Congrats again!
