Hello

I am a new member and look forward to reading all the discussion about the Mini. I recently drove a Mini for the first time in Charleston, S. Carolina and fell in love with the car. It was a Copper S with the JCW package, what a hoot! The dealer found the color I like and I think the package looks good, however the car is in Texas and it's $1000 to ship to SC which makes the total cost of the car around $37,000 (I do not have the patience to order a car) so is it worth it or is the dealer taking me for another ride?
I went in on the build it yourself website and the price came to $34,000 however I'm not sure I'm comparing mini's to mini's. Any comments? All will be appreciated.

Welcome

You've come to the right place to get that question answered. Personally I can't comment on the JCW. I have an S (pretty loaded up) and it ran me about 25k. Plenty fast for me for that price.

As for that $1000 delivery. If it's one mini dealer getting it from another mini dealer, I don't think they should charge you anything. Sounds like they are trying to nab you on two destination charges.

I wonder how much that car would be if you called the TX dealer yourself. It might be well worth the effort.

Welcome to NAM, leomarks. Print out your preferred specs and call around the country to see if anyone has one close to it on the lot. And why not fly to Texas and drive the MINI back home to S. Carolina? Great way to break in the engine and get to know your new baby.

Welcome aboard!! You've got some good suggestions already about locating a car maybe somewhere else. Due to time limits, when we ordered our Cabrio from VA (where we used to live), we had it shipped out here and delivered right to our driveway... It was still cheaper than paying the dealer mark-up here in So Cal.

If you have the time - fly out and drive it back - you'll not regret it...

Thanks for helpful replys

Thanks to all the reply's and ideas that you offered. I have since decided to try for a light silver instead of cool blue. Pretty much the same package as the one in Texas. This Mini is in Charlotte so I'll save some money.
That $1,000 could pay for a Randy Webb exhaust system!
Any rate should have my new Mini soon, can't wait.

You're getting a JCW, but putting an aftermarket exhaust on it?
