Ordered my MINI officially on 1/3 ... essentially took over one of the dealer's production slots ... and my MINI has since been "On Order" in the Owners' Lounge ever since.

In any case, I pinged my Motoring Advisor (MA) today about the status, and to get confirmation regarding the various rumors on the factory shutdown or slowdown. Just thought I would share the e-mail I received back:

[Sales Manager] just got off the phone with our Regional Mgr. and he confirmed that plant is closed and should be up and running at the end of the week. [snip] So it does not appear that your MINI has started production, but it should be one of the first once production continues as your MINI is listed in a 112 status which is the last status that it goes through before production is started. [snip]

Questions for everyone:

1) What does "112 status" mean exactly? Any dealers on this board?

2) Is it true that the plant is shut down only until the end of this week? I had heard on another board (maybe motoringfile.com?) that it was to be shut down for three weeks in January. Who is correct?

 

Got me on 112 but I have been hearing so many different stories about the plant closing that my head is spinning. Just today, a customer service person at ASK MINI said that the plant is not really closed - just parts of it and production is continuing but at a slower rate. My car was ordered before Thanksgiving and entered the Paint Shop on December 16 - AND IS STILL THERE .... I am expecting one heck of a durable coat (must be an inch think by now...) It is supposed to be complete in about a week so I have been monitoring day to day to keep tabs on status changes - but still none. The dial-up status at ASK MINI is supposed to be much more current and detailed than the website one, which tends to be delayed with respect to changes as I have heard.

I may do like you and call my MA again to see what his take on the story is.

It has been almost a month and a half so far and the wait is really starting to bother me....

Yes, it seems 112 is the last status before "150 production started"

I am curious now what Production Week I was assigned to (since it looks like that is a step prior to Step 112) ... although that doesn't seem to matter much, given the current factory status.
