OMG I am picking up the car next Thur, a couple quick questions..

I went to the dealer today, I didn't realized I can pick up the car as early as Tuesday. The scamy looking financial advisor showed me the ding-dang of all the dealer accesories. I do't have problem with the stuff he sells, but I just don't like his "As Seem on TV" selling that much. He even did a dramatic pause when he said "but!" :D

Anyway he was selling this "Dent Armor" for $429. It covers 3 years of dent removal for you. Are these things actually work, how do you pull out a dent like that. I am sorry I sound ignorance, this is my first new car.

Also I have seen alot of Mini with bumper gards on them, where do you buy that stuff?

I am getting a MT/blue/silver/silver bonnet strip MC btw.

Congrats on your new MINI. The silver roof/bonnet stripe look great with blue.

Absolutely positively bypass that "option"

If you get a dent than can be pulled out by paintless dent removal like that, it runs $100 a body panel. Unless your car got in a hail storm you wouldn't approach making the $429 make sense (and if that happened - an act of god as it were - then you probably have other damage and would need to file an insurance claim anyway).

edit:
I was thinking about these
http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/NM.../InvDetail.cfm

Were these avaiable as factory option on older models?

Those were available from the factory on the '02 to '04 MC. The '05 and "06 MC have a new bumpercover design and those chrome pieces won't fit the newer cars.

First, congrats on the new MINI!

Second, I agree with DiD. Skip the dent removal. Don't pay for something you might or might not need.

There are two basic techniques for paintless removal. They either get behind the dent with special tools and push the dent out or they use suction cups and glue to pull the dent out from the outside.

I had a door ding taken out of my MINI and the guy did a great job. You absolutely can't tell there was ever a dent.

Honestly most of the dealership protection offers seem to be a little on the scammy side. As far as bumper guards, those chrome ones seem more for look then anything else. If you like the look go for it, if you want to protect against dings then I would suggest you look at a clear bra.
