Hello everyone. Brand new to the Mini world.
Hello everyone. Brand new to the Mini world.
I am thinking of getting the new Mini Cooper S, maybe the works model and was hoping for some advice and info. I purchased a new 2005 Porsche Boxster in May and just love it, however I want to get into autocrossing and don't want to use the Porsche.
I have read that the Mini's are great for autocrossing.
I was was wondering how reliable the Mini's are...engines/trans?? My second car now is a 1988 Honda civic hatch with over 482,000 kms on it and I don't know how much longer it is going to last, and I need a second car to the Boxster for practical purposes.
I have narrowed down my 2 choices to the Mini Cooper S or the new Civic Si coming out in Dec. I am leaning toward the Mini because I find the styling similar to the Porsche in that they are both timeless designs that will look great for many years.
Can you Mini owners tell me a little about the car, ie performance, handling, comfort etc.
Thanks for your time.
cheers

Hi, welcome on-board,
MCS handles better than a Civic SI all day, I do not know how the new one is going to behave. Looks like you have a good taste in cars, go with the MCS, there is going to be millions of Civics out there, but not MCSs.
BTW, JCW is a good choice, but I would go aftermarket for more performance. Spend a little more time on NAM, you will get hooked anyways

Thanks ariercetinberk. I will probably go with the Cooper S. I am going for a test
drive in the next few days. I like to keep my cars for a long time and I know the Mini will look great for many many years. I can hardly wait to get it because I want to get into autocrosses. My buddy has a 97 Boxster that he takes to autocrosses but I want to save mine for the road. Maybe once the novelty has warn off I might consider tracking it.
