Snow Tires?

Just got a new Mini S. Great summer fun but
should I be looking into snow tires? I dont want
to be caught off gaurd on the first snow.

Please advise.

Where do you live? What tires are on the car now?

I have an 03 MC. I went the first season on the all-season Conti's.
It was OK.

Last year I got a set of Pirelli Snow Controls on steel rims.
HUGE difference

Pulls through 6 inches of snow, great on ice, wonderful fun on hardpacked back roads The are good on dry pavement. Not noisey on the highway.

Don't listen to anyone that says MINIs are no good in the snow

Plus your summer tires will last longer.

If you live in an area where snow is a concern and you plan to drive your MINI in the snow, then snow tires are a good idea. Remember that it is important to install snow tires on all four wheels.

MINI + snow tires = Loads of Winter fun!

Get some on a set of dedicated wheels so that you can swap you winter and summer set back and forth. I do this to save mileage on my expensive winter set. Winter tires are not cheap at all.

And if you live in an area where winter roads are rough, like the north east, I highly recommend steel wheels.. 15" clears nicely and gives more cusion in the sidewall.

Plus black steelies are mean looking
