How long...

I'd like to do an informal survey.

How long was it from ordering your Mini to arrival at your dealer?

It's been a week and all I know is "on order". (I know, I know - I need to exercise some patience.)

In 2002, I got on a waiting list to order in March, my order was placed in late May, production began about July 1, and I took delivery of MINI #1 on August 28, 2002.

When I saw pix of the all Jet Black MCS (a color not offered in 2002), I HAD to have one! I placed my order for Wanda on January 13, 2003 and took delivery of her April 4, 2003!

The wait times vary from region to region....

Ordered April 2nd, 2005 -- Picked up June 6th, 2005

I have an MCSCa, had I not ordered a vert, I would have had it a few weeks sooner.

Near may be better than far but it still isn't there!

I'm midway through the process. I ordered June 11th, and am now waiting for a boat to bring over my MINI. It's been sitting on the damn dock for almost a week now.

I have no patience, so I bought both off the lot. Had to wait about ten minutes for the finance rep to become available on the last one. I seem to be in the minority here.......

2Miniacs,

A MCS and a Z06? Talk about apples & oranges! Do you dare pick a favorite?

How long did it take?

I put my money down to reserve a spot in line on December 30.I picked up my car on March 19. Patience isn't one of my virtues, so I checked the owners' lounge every 15 minutes and put my Motoring Advisor on speed dial. I figured if I was losing my mind, they should lose theirs too!!

My info is pretty outdated but here goes anyway. Seems to me a lot has to do with what the dealer may have available in their normal allocation of MINIs. If they can tweak one for you waiting to be built in their allocation...great. If everythings booked up forthat month, then you'll be on the next month's allocation. I'm no MA but that's how it used to be.

I ordered my Cooper at the end of November 2002, it was built mid-January 2003 and I was driving out of the dealer's lot on the last day of the same month. Motoring nirvana since.....

The Z06 is an awesome car that I really enjoy driving, but I really like the MCS better. I think it's because the Z06 is a more serious car and I'm not a serious person. Life is about having fun.....

It has been nearly a month for me and the OL still says On Order...

Maybe the wait will make me change my mind.... you think??

I too ordered on June 11th, but my MCS is still "on order". It's scheduled to go into production mid August and I'm told I'll have it by late September.

Still, this 3 month wait is better than the 6 months I was quoted if I were to order through my "local" MINI dealer (I ordered from a dealer at the far end of a next-door State). I'm trying to be patient, but I'm slowly loosing my mind...

The 02 I bought of the showroom floor at P&W in Pittsburgh. They are a good dealer.

The 04 I ordered from Moritz in Arlington, TX. 7 weeks from order to the lot, then add a week for the JCW install. Moritz is a good dealer, too.

I've had good experiences at both dealers, competent people working within good management systems.

Two MINIs later, a combined 46.000 miles of motoring, and I still grin when I walk into the garage . . .

I ordered my MCS on June 6th. I thought I was going to lose my mind after nearly 3 weeks of On Order. Its been at Scheduled for Production for several days now, and Im getting worried. I have a August 14 Pulley Party to make. Plus I want to break the car in before all the mods go in. . Bboy your post has me even more worried. I read on another thread that sombody got their MINI the other day and it took about 5 1/2 weeks. If that holds true for me, Ive got 2 weeks to wait. Something tells me that its not possible for everything that still needs to happen to do so in 2 weeks. Prescription?

Ordered on June 13, 2005
Finished on June 29 (all the quality checks, etc)
Arrived at the Port of Exit on June 30

So I checked the W&W Website for my car this morning and guess what I see.

Vesset: MAERSK Teal
Loaded On Vessel South Hampton 6/30/05 13:12
Received at Terminal South Hampton 6/30/05 09:30
Booked South Hampton 6/30/05 08:32

The ship has sailed off on June 30, 2005 and it is estimated to dock at NYC on July 7, 2005.

Not Bad eh? NOT BAD AT ALL!!!

The ASK-MINI, OL is always slow. (Ask-mini said it is heading to the port of exit yesterday afternoon around 5. When W&W shows it has been received at the port 9 in the morning..)

Checking on MA will be the best way to find out the latest location of ur mini.

On order: 6/23
Scheduled for production: 27th week (7/4)!!!!

Mine was moved up from the following week (7/11). Exciting!!!!

I'm crossing my fingers for 5.5 weeks! I'm also hoping they don't move me to the 28th week.

I ordered and paid cash for mine in January 2005 and still had to wait 6 months until it arrived (last week). And this was from a BMW/MINI DEALERSHIP IN GERMANY! It would have been a longer wait, but the sales rep swapped dates with me so I could get it quicker. Thankfully she already had an '03 model and wasn't in too big of a rush for her '05.

I put my money down in early October 2004, got in the waiting line then, entered "on order" status in April, Shipped in late may, was "at the distribution center" until yesterday and is now "at your mini dealership". wOOt! Yep, 10 months! Now it doesn't matter much at all because I'm within days. While I was waiting, I was paying other stuff off! Not a bad deal.

We are currently now waiting at the beach , while they finish my car!

How long?

Ordered Sept. '02, delivered June '03. Yep ten months!
But it was worth it and we have forgotten all about how long it took. Kind of like planning a big vacation! Motor on.
