n00b questions:
n00b questions:
1. Is DSC defeatable? If so, is it TOTALLY, COMPLETELY defeatable or does the defeat button simply push back the threshold at which it interferes a bit?
2. Is the battery under the hood or elsewhere?
3. What is the weight balance of a stock MCS?
Thanks!

the DSC is TOTALLY defeatable, the toggle you press to turn it off keeps it off.. the battery is located in the boot under the carpet for the MCS, and the weight balance for the MINI, i wish i knew.. but it's better than the A4 i believe.
Thanks for the info. Hearing that DSC is completely defeatable has me relieved, but while I was searching the site I learned about ASC. Apparently this is *not* defeatable on the 2005 MCS?
The battery in the trunk will make stereo install a snap. =) Now I just need tofigure out how to house the sub and amps in one removable box with quick-disconnect cabling.
I dug up the weight balance with a googlesearch - it's 63/37 for the Mini. Pretty disappointing for a BMW-engineer-designed car. My A4 has 58/42, which is bad enough. But it also has another 600 pounds to lug around.
Oh well

Weight balance is overrated. Why would you want a 50/50 short wheelbase FWD car? It would hinder traction. The car just swings the light back end around, which probably factors into its great slalom speeds, along with the wheelbase. I think BMW knew what they were doing.
Both DSC and ASC are defeatable in the cars. You either have one or the other and not both. You turn them off but they will turn on every time you restart the car. If you want it to always be off then you need to purchase Ian's auto DSC off circuit (his user is GBMINI) and it will even give you auto-up windows.

ASC/DSC is defeated by the toggle switch in it's entirety, but other functions provided by the system still function, such as ABS and CBC/EBFD (cornering braking control/electronic brakeforce distribution).
