1st post from an old R53 owner

Hi NAM!

I’ve been lurking for years but finally had to join up. Had an old electric blue 2004 R53 nicknamed “Bodger” back in the day. He was precious to me, but I had to move it along of it as it approached end of life. Hopefully he’s still out there racing auto-cross somewhere!!

I’ve been saying for years that it was my favorite car ever, but assumed it was mainly just a memory, and would be disappointing to ever really go back. Then last week I drove past a perkily little mini at a dealership just like my old one and fell right back in love in an instant. The dynamics are, to me, utter perfection. Reality was just as good as my memory. That one already sold, but now I’m on the hunt to get a mini back into my life befitting Bodger’s memory.

I’m excited to be in a community of folks who can understand that frankly sometimes unreasonable connection that can exist between a piece of steel and human.
Looking spiffy my first day of grad school

The factory racing stripes installed on the rear were one of my favorite things. The curves matched the boot edgecurves. Union Jack Sticker design modeled after a triumph tr6 I want to say?

Is the bad reliability actually a “feature” designed to make you fall in love?
