I am a brand new mini owner. I believe it is an r58, N18 motor, but I can't seem to get anything definitive in my limited searches as it is a 2014. I guess 2013-14 is the year they switched from R to F. I believe its the 1.6L but can't really be for sure. I guess I just need some support. I want to play around with mods but don't want to buy wrong parts.
Read a ton of threads and wasn't able/didn't search "enough" to find specifics. How can I tell exactly what my car is?

 

Welcome! Post a picture, and someone will be able to tell you what you have for sure.

If it is a 2014 coupe with turbo engine, then it would be an R58 car with N18 engine.

For aftermarket parts, there are a bunch of interchangeability between the different body styles, even though most vendors will list only R56 (hatchback) applications.
