Greetings From Australia - Mini R53
After a year of reading many helpful articles on this forum, I thought about time I joined the community. I have owned for the past couple of years 2002 JCW 1st Gen absolutely stock standard. Although at times frustrating to work on I have enjoyed reading this forum and having a go at fixes myself as we all know BMW charge like wounded bulls.
Welcome. Whereabouts d'ye call home?
None of my damned business I reckon, but my curiosity is due to my residence in St. Kilda for a year, working in Melbourne, and riding a Suzuki GS1000 down the Great Ocean Road every Sunday - 45 times.
Traveled to Sydney on business, but nowhere else (except for NZ North Island).
Anyway I fell in love back in '80/'81 - many years ago. I reckon the Yarra River is still there, and likely the Queen's Domain as well.
Sorry for the aimless reminiscence and good luck with your diminutive hot rod.
Cheers,
Charlie

OK, as long as we're sharing...
I visited Aus in 1988 during a 2-week drive-about with friends, wherein we spent the first week in NZ's North Island, then flew over to Sydney where we took all that in before driving down the Gold Coast through Surfer's Paradise with a few days in Brisbane when World Expo was going on at that time. Good times and memories!

Your Handle reminded me of a Western Australian numberplate that was for sale on Gumtree a few weeks ago JCW WKS or something close to that, wanted $800. Any photos of your JCW? I have one I had trucked over from Melbourne last year.
I always end up taking the scenic route wherever I drive so I get to enjoy the drive. How have you managed to keep it bone stock? Some parts are almost impossible to get new now, especially any JCW parts (in Australia). BMW in Perth didn't even have any front bumper / indicator parking lights & said it would be a special order, from Sydney or Melbourne. I ended up ordering it from the UK as they generally arrive quicker than stuff from the Eastern States.
