Another Aussie

Hi
Just bought a 2009 Cooper S "Camden". Looking forward to finding the best places to get parts and help be it in Aus or from around the world.
A few cosmetic tweaks and some cooling issues to fix which I will do all of myself :-)
Cheers

Hi,

The Camden was a 50th Anniversary edition. The Cooper (Mayfair) was in Chocolate Brown and the Cooper S (Camden) is Silver White Metallic.
Here's a comment from a review at the time
"the MINI 50th Anniversary Cooper S Camden, picks up exclusive White Silver metallic paintwork coupled with three-dimensional silver bonnet stripes, 18-inch alloy wheels, subtle "Camden" logos and, on the inside, Carbon Black and Tech White upholstery, sports seats, a pumping Harmon/Kardon sound system and a bizarre new in-car entertainment system MINI refer to as "Mission Control"
I've got no idea if it was released worldwide, no idea how may were sold either.

Here it is

:-)

Nice looking car! I've never heard of that edition, not that that means anything in terms of global/regional release though. I am curious - this 'mission control' thing - why do you call it bizarre?

HI jcolletteiii,
"Bizarre" was how it was described by the article I quoted.
It is a little bizarre, but more just a gimmick. Seems like they may have struggled to come up with something different for the 50th anniversary models (Camden and Mayfair). It's entertaining for a while and can be turned off. It's basically 3 voices that talk about the status of the car. plenty of chat on start up and then quiets down a bit. e.g if you had a sunroof and it was open when it started raining, it will remind you to close the sunroof. That might be obvious but it's a bit of fun. There is an SD card in the hidden glove box that has about 1300 quotes on it.

My Car has an overheating issue that looks very much like a head gasket on it's way out. Also has a misfire due to a bad coil pack. I've ordered new coil packs and plugs and will get the head gasket kit when I've confirmed that is the issue. Getting parts is not the easiest in Aus. I have found masterparts online and another one down south (I'm based near Brisbane Looks like anything specific needs to come from the UK (tbh I haven't even asked for prices from BMW since I assume they will be a bit pricey.)

Cheers for now
