On a R53, it reminds me of the end cap that goes on the bumper bracket,
pops into the end of #7 on the diagram:

Yep, that looks like the cap that fits into the crush tubes.

got it. I have an R53.
pulled the whole engine apart, changed the clutch, but this and another little part giving me grief. Hahahahha

F.Y.I. That part cited in your original post that fits on the crush tubes is used only in manufacturing and does not need to be replaced.
